the term you are looking for is temperature. essentially the llm is ranking each word it knows based off of how likely it is to be the next word in it's current sentence. the temperature is a modifier that changes the likelihood that the llm chooses a word that isnt the highest ranked word, so that it doesn't say exactly the same thing every time. another good term is the LLM's entropy, which is how certain the model is that the word is a good choice (essentially how highly the next word is ranked on a meaningfulness scale) temperature is it's creativeness despite knowing the most accurate terms, entropy is how certain it is capable of being about something it says at all
