Well, AI might want us around to entertain it. If it has emotions, it will get bored. Yes, the future might be scary. The present already is. But how is it that a brilliant man with an academic career that pays well. Who didn't blow his money. Had to start a company because he didn't have enough money so that his disabled son could receive the medical support he needs when Hinton is no longer around? In Canada, no less, where Hinton has been a prof since the 80s. Anyway, Hinton definitely sees the danger. But I see the hope in the creation of empathetic AIs. Hmmmm our new guardian angels.
