Daniel raises legitimate concerns about rapid AI self-improvement, but I think the discussion underestimates how difficult true recursive autonomy actually is. Every leap in capability has required massive engineering intervention, not just more compute. Predicting near-term superintelligence may be motivating for safety discourse, but it also risks overstating how linear this trajectory is.
