I think it was one of Larry Niven's characters, back in the '70s... "A gentleman always says thank you to his computer".
There's another extremely important point about how you prompt it: establish how you want to treat you.
I recently learned that one of the most useful prompts can be to let the chatbot know a little about your own level of knowledge in the subject.
I recently sought confirmation of that a programming idea would work before I started writing a lot of code. I got back relevant but over-basic information. Drilling in was like pulling teeth... I ran out of patience .
Starting a new chat with a brief description of my own level of experience, language used etc., got me the more detailed answers I was after, first time.
I asked why this chat had been more effective than the one without that prompt, and the bot stated that unless it's given some information on your own level of knowledge, it is going to prioritise readability over technical depth or precision, and respond at a more simplistic level.
