I have one rule I follow, when it comes to even just using apps like WhatsApp, or when chatting with AI: I'm aware that everything I mention there, could be theoretically seen by everyone. So yes, i do use AI in order to better understand myself, and things from my past which keep on rising up from time to time. I don't do it instead of therapy, but in addition to. I think it's a good tool, accessible to everyone and gives interesting insights. But then, again- I don't feel i have anything to hide, even things I'm ashamed of. They are part of me, and if whoever will ever (or is now) be exposed to the things i share- it's totally fine with me. But if you don't feel this way- you'd better not share your secrets with AI, or on the internet in general:)
