Tbh looking at how Elon has been unable to develop and monetise AI for himself, and how strong he has been portraying in the media how against AI he is, it seems like he is pushing for a pause just so he can catch-up and bring out his own monetised AI 🤷♀️
It’s hard to know what the true objective of such an open letter is beyond just what they have written in the statements.
I do think though that giving society time to adjust to AI and how to use it or adapt to it for their work tasks is important but an actual pause in research and development seems a bit premature 🤔
