I've watched and read quite a bit of Geoffrey Hinton's materials, and I am continually impressed with his work and his current working knowledge of the advancements being made. His concerns are legitimate and he has spelled them out in detail, though no one could pack it all into an hour-long presentation. He has no obvious reason for bias and probably wouldn't be speaking about the issue if it weren't substantially alarming. He and his colleagues did groundbreaking work with the concept and implementation of AI beginning in the 50s and 60s (*I think) and basically hit a point where they had to wait for technology to catch up to them.
