I wrote a paper once, about a decade ago, on why Socialism is the way forward for humanity to survive. It was, like Marx's works, more philosophical than practical. However, the main consensus behind it was how technology is destroying Capitalism, much in the same way less primitive technology destroyed Feudalism. Feudalism was brought down in every country that developed the technology to start industrializing. As Smith once wrote (summarized), _two men with a horse and plow can accomplish more than twenty men with spades._
Seeing the parallel to history from Smith's perspective, it makes full sense that AI is our version of the two men who will put the vast majority of us out of a job. We can only "shift employees" to different positions for so long before it starts costing money. Even holding out and letting an employee keep their job, but dissolving their role upon their separation from the company, will eventually lead to less and less of the wealth being spread through the overall populace.
