It's not only the drivers that are affected by driverless trucks. Think of all of the supporting jobs centered around the trucking industry. Truck stops, restaurants, and numerous other businesses depend on truck drivers for a large portion of their income. Another issue, who is doing the pre-trip inspections on these trucks? If driverless trucks are on the road for more than 11 hours a day, that means fewer inspections are being done per mile driven.
