You missed the point. The comparison is not directly between AI art and Digital Art, the comparison is in how the existing artist community REACTED to these things, when they were new.
They're comparing your reaction to AI now, to how people like you reacted to digital art, in the 90s. A similar reaction happened 100 years ago, with the invention of photography.
These new mediums and tools are always heavily criticized at their start, but eventually become accepted as people come to understand their best uses. No matter how much you claim you'll never accept AI, in 10 years, you will.
Same exact mentality happened around CG in movies between the 90s and 10s.
