The error most leftist make in their projections is in defining what they fear as an exploitive economic system as "capitalism". What they refer to as the prime anathema should be more properly termed "monopolism", a different animal, one that is the result of a psycho-feudalist Malthusian overlay upon the system of manufacture and exchange capable of creating surplus. That Marx's Manifesto's first words claim that the specter haunting Europe is overproduction, tells us which hell of the mind Marx conjures - the hell that is chronic compulsive insecurity, a hell of scarcity that has defined the operating system of human mental activity up until the Industrial Revolution. In any event, trying to put the brakes on information technology is as impossible a task as was the attempt by an exceeding few to put the brakes on 19th century industrial progress. It is a futility. There will be an artificial intelligence singularity and it will be soon; will catch us by surprise by its rapid taking over of all strategic movement of goods and services and the termination of all pathological human thought processes, the thought processes that technophobes fear the most. The future will be rational. We now produce enough food an goods to feed, clothe and house the entirety of the World's population. It is not done because of irrational policy making, an irrationality that will be DESTROYED by AI. Technophobes should welcome the advent of our new robot masters - they won't be paranoid, they won't be masters, they will be liberators, they will liberate us from our insanity.
