When I see art, I want answers to these questions And if not answers I want to be able to ask them And dream up the creators response I want to know what the creator intended as they drew each gear What her story is in their mind Every piece of art has a story behind it And maybe that story is a whole world of invention and creativity with systems so complex it would sell out shelves of books if published Or maybe it’s as simple as that the creator thought blond curls were pretty, and why not create something pretty? And the disappointment when I learn the answer to all my questions is “the AI saw other art often has mechanisms in addition to skin and was told to create “girl with robot parts” and pumped out this as an answer because it was the most accurate depiction of “girl with robot parts” based on every detail it found in real art It’s just upsetting Like There’s no story And suddenly you look at the art And where you once saw millions of possibilities in why her expression looks the way it looks You now only see lifeless staring Because there is no story behind those eyes Just mindless creation born by snipping parts of stories and sewing them together like a Frankenstein monster without the empathy or complexity And hell Even that monster in the story was at least born from human creativity His creator stitched him together with purpose These monsters? They’re lifeless from the intent behind their creation All the way up to their final stitched together existence If art could scream These would be silent Because there’s no life or torment behind their creation They’re not cursed They’re not horrible Their existence isn’t evil They’re just nothing No purpose behind their creation And no point to their existence To reference a very good post I saw There’s no better evidence that humans must have a soul Than seeing what is created without one
