The wall-e ship was a one part cruise ship, one part people vault. If you look at walls past the colors and cute little robots it is very similar to Fallout. The Axiom and the other cruise ships were just vaults designed to keep people safe and free from harm until earth was cleaned up and free from trash. The reason they had all these luxuries were because it was a generation ship designed to keep its inhabitants comfortable until they got back. They didn’t mean to last 500 years, they just did. The people in WALL·E are pampered because it is what allows them to not overthrow the AI and return the ship back to earth and start a new civilization. The aren’t pampered, they’re stuck as slaves. They were content to never return to earth, because they were too ignorant to even see the stars or even the pool that they had on their own ship they’ve lived in their whole lives. It’s less being privileged from an automated system and more kept alive on life support so that one day you or your kids can go back to earth without much issue in the nearish future.
