Since time immemorial, a human only needed three things: Food, shelter and clothing. All the rest of stuff he buys is for entertainment and many of them entirely avoidable. Those who know how to live wisely will never have any problem. By the way, we have heard such debates of people losing their jobs due to automation before. More recently during the commercialization of computers. But nothing major happened. Life still goes on.
