I've done freelance translation as a side gig for about a decade. Recently one company has cur back on expenses by doing as many translation as they can using AI, but then paying translators such as myself to proofread them, at a lower rate than they would pay for us to translate the document. I can say that at this point, AI isn't ready to completely take over. The most recent AI translated document that I proofread was so terrible, some segments it just reworded in English, it hallucinated institution names. But I've been following the progression of AI over the past few years, so I don't think it will be too long before it's vastly improved. Thankfully I translate Haitian Creole, and AI uses what it finds on the internet, and so many Haitians use incorrect spelling that it throws the AI off 😂😂😂
