A teacher used AI to grade my creative writing piece recently. They read it and left some of their own comments and had a conversation about it with me, but still plugged my work into AI and gave me the AIs response- which basically said everything she was telling me. So either there was absolutely no reason for her to use AI (a very unsustainable technology) OR she read what the AI said first and then pretended like it was her own ideas. It left a bad taste in my mouth. Even if I didn't care that they were allowing a bot to consume my writing and regurgitate it to strangers in the future, I do care about the environmental impact. The primary reason I don't touch generative AI even for fun and jokes is because of the environmental impact, the fact that this teacher didn't ask me first felt very uncomfortable.
