As an engineer, I have questions about the automation. If the truck is cruising along and the power to the "driving" CPU cuts out, what does the truck do? Are there backups? What are the failure modes? What is the demonstrated reliability (words like "never" and "zero" are red flags here)? Who is legally liable for determining which routes a robot truck may take- the automation company or the trucking company? Say I tell the robot to take a route that it is technically incapable of following- is it smart enough to say no, or will it try? And what happens if it does?
Last year I moved to Vermont, where my house is two miles up a narrow, winding dirt road. After we scouted the road in my car, the moving company driver drove his 18-wheeler up to deliver my stuff- no muss, no fuss. I'd like to see a robot do THAT.
