Yes, I agree and support the idea of penalizing companies adopting AI while ommitting or scaling down the employee participation aspects of their business.
Some kind of a calculation could be made by accessing 1. the impact and dominance of the business or operation (Amazon) on society and 2) their lack of, or contribution toward society (people who play by the rules to "work") as compared to what they take out of our economy. In some respect, this falls under the tarrif concept applied to foreign countries who pay minimal wages to their employees, decreasing us businesses paying higher wages.
In some way, these corporations are draining societal quality of life. Perhaps, the elimination of workers in exchange for furthering their profts, is much the same as foreign countries having an unfair competition position prompting tarrifs.
The difference here, is the us corporation is embedded in our country. They then create an unfair and unhuman method of operations, using AI to automate their operations, hurting our society.
If we dont permit this by foreign countries. then the same prohibition shoukd be applied to AI based entities inside our borders.
We crack down on or prevent businesses that hurt out communities such as vulture car loan businesses.
Gambling, hurts our society, we managed thst, alcohol based business products, hurt our society. we managed that with age requirements.
Tobacco, etc.
AI, poisons our society by dramatically altering the tools regular people can function by eliminating current, and future jobs.
We already see how automation eliminated grocery cashiers at wapmart. Reducing staffing to non skilled work (no degree or skills required) so emplyees are simply reduced down to stocking shelves, cleaning the stores, creating a vending machine like business.
McDonald's eliminates managing customers to a kiosk.
Perhaps, if, a business grew to such prominence by traditional staffing over the past years, to make them very wealthy (Starbucks, Walmart, Amazon, Tech Companies, etc.) then, when its convenient remove 50% of staffing to automation at year 21, or 30 years after having benefited from traditional business model, their may be an equivalent trickle rule to only permit drastic operational changes. such as AI implementation, spread out over an equivalent number of years so society (people) can also reorganize their requirements to survive with the proposed new business model.
Otherwise, its like the foreign companes having an unfair advantage over our population to live.
US companies, very big and established ones, should implement large scale changes, which impact our society with delicate precision based on human standards (not just profits) and the standards of the society they benefited on and which enabled them to get that big.
Big topic. qualified analyst need to study.
