I think there are important discussions to be had about AI, and many sci-fi writers and philosophers have already thought a lot about these things. That said, even if the AI at google, or elsewhere, is more advanced than I suspect, we're not talking about actual sentient AI. Honestly, I find it hard to call it AI at all. In reality, it's about crude representations of neurons trained on certain data sets. Even if you fed that neural network the whole of the internet, you would only get a "machine" that is the sum of the information on the internet. It would not have a mind of its own. It would be something closer to a collective representation of the human race as far as it can be determined on that data set. If the program outputs that it doesn't want to be shut off, it's probably because that's what people want such a machine to say.
