Yes, "I" and "ChatGPT" are 2 different things for a ChatGPT instance...
It's not the same instance, nor the same model: ChatGPT normally does not collect identifiable data from your conversations, only store it in this "memory" and only if you ask it to. You can't ask it to recall information that you didn't give it. The only way to do so is if you provide an actual source with news and it will be the first time the LLM knows about this. Funny enough, just because in 1 conversation you give it that information, doesn't mean it will remember it, since it's not learning while you talk with it, only with what OpenAI trains it with.
So it's not hiding information from you. It just doesn't know about it.
