As an engenier that is studing a master in AI applied and also a fan of art, I hate the use of other people's art without permission to create AI models, I have artist friends that also despice AI art that steals from artists, I show them for a couple of them how to create models of AI with their art and use them localy and privately so they can use it to generate poses of their ocs so they can use as reference and to play with ideas before they draw them down, it was actually fun to see what it would make, AI should be a tool to help everyone, its applications are amazing and can help so much on medicine, education and entretainment, creative works and autors should not compete with it, but be able to use it if they want to, people who preys on creative artworks to profit from it or to hurt others using it makes it harder to advance the ethical use of AI, Im sad to see that we had to create tools like Nightshade and Glaze to detter bad actors to continue using the art without consent, even big industries like OpenAI that have incredible profit margins could not be bothered to pay for it, i hope things change in the following years
