I don't think the educational argument with AI is entirely fair. Of course if you study law or literature or philosophy your work is what you write, and there you're 100% right, but I for example study robotics, all of my actual work is done before I put a single letter down on paper. All of my results could be put in a single large table of values and two graphs and that's that, and some profs ask for that, but then some will ask for a 20 page essay of pointless fluff that they won't read, it serves no purpose, it's a waste of everyone's time, you can't blame me for having GPT do the heavy lifting and me just correcting the mistakes it makes to save my effort.
