I feel bad for him too tbh. I've fallen down rabbit holes, though more so on older internet, so the exploitation was a bit different. I became fascinated with how the internet functions in general, and have used some of that knowledge to attempt my own internet marketing. Its truly so disgusting how easy it is to do. I gave it up fairly quick because it felt so awful, and I just couldn't get passionate about it. Instead I transfered that curiosity into learning why people think the way they do, instead of how to just use it to my own benefit. In how we individually contribute to the problem, we absolutely do need to take accountability, as QtCinderella articulated perfectly. But its mainly a problem in how these companies and their algorithms themselves are legally allowed to operate. The biggest reason I hope Qt feels empowered to go after the platforms, is because a lawsuit is the only way to force the system to understand that people as a whole, dont overall want these creepy busineses to be able to abuse their platforms and victimize people just for being successful, and in the public eye. But as of now, they are allowed to operate in such a targeted and manipulative way, that if there are weaknesses in your own personal psychi AT ALL, they will find that point, and tickle at it till you finally scratch. Your providers collect enough data to guess what you're currently thinking about, better than any psychic on this planet. Litigation is the only way left for us to protect ourselves and eachother.
