You can generate all you want, as long as you pay the artists for the original work. I think I saw one indie game with AI generated art but it was only using art the artist on their team had made, if that artist is part of the dev team I have no issue. That's the perfect use for an AI tool, in my opinion. The devs still got a lot of flack just for using AI generated images though. Maybe there's more to this story I'm missing, or I remembered it wrong.
