Thanks for emphasizing the importance of tech towards the end, I've been really worried about a sort of primitive anti-tech, even anti-science approach to the AI issue. The issue isn't tech its business and the industry. If we could just harness more of the "Free and Open Source Software" (FOSS) ethos and tackle some issues like "Right to Repair" we could really do a lot to make our tech better and more sustainable and give individuals more power and freedom. And theres some ideas in the open source community that could really help push against the worst of the AI nonsense ATM. One other (frankly barely related) issue I wanna slip in just as an aside: I see a lot of people encouraging tighter copyright control to combat AI datasets, and that is a nightmarish prospect IMO, that system was built horribly and should frankly be abolished. It usually doesn't help actual people, only giant companies.
