But on top of stealing your work and regurgitating it into soulless slop in the blink of a sloppy eye, it uses it to directly compete with you and every other real artist. It's a treasonous betrayal of humans by humans for profit. One of the worst effects of this is that there won't be any new artists. Who is going to get through those first 1000 terrible drawings or sculpts when the ai is already better, faster and cheaper now, so in a few years of intense artistic training, you'll just be less of all those things while the ai has gotten a few more years advanced? No one. Unless, we make an ai-less, rewarding world for them to aspire to join. A world of hand drawn and sculpted art that allows no generative slop into it. Where someone can find meaning and fulfillment in bringing joy to others. We'll need to adjust our lifestyles and expenses down to where this can sustain us, but it can be done and our lives will be richer for it. Imagine trading art for food in a barter system. Live in a community that provides for itself and you'll finally see art appreciated in it's raw form. Hand crafted creations exchanged for room and board could branch off into old fashioned patronage. Philosophers might be supported for their speeches and writing. Inventors for solving the community's problems. It's the opposite of the future (and present) that we're heading towards. It needs to start now though. Hopefully it already has and I'm just not hip enough to know about it. Regardless, we're existing in the system that is being made for ai to take over. We have to be the rats that break out of the experiment when the first rat gets eaten.
