In the end, the scariest part to me is the driver's that put their full trust into any "auto pilot" the footage of the tesla slamming into the overturned truck with a mile of clear open highway in front of it, yet the driver was not watching the road. I am sure the cases with the motorcyclists were similar, wide open highway and drivers not paying attention. Autonomous driving needs to be illegal, they claim it is intended as an assist, and the driver is still obligated to make decisions, yet it is marketed as self-driving, auto pilot etc. It is encouraging people to not drive safely and giving drivers a false sense of safety in auto pilot. Even if Tesla's AI is "safer" than most regular cars, the mistakes that it DOES make are extremely simple to any human driver, mistaking an overpass for an obstruction, not seeing pedestrians in the street, crossing lanes and going past stop signs. Hundreds of videos of autopilot making such trivial errors that could be deadly. Sure, distracted drivers will always exist and cause accidents, but then there will be someone to blame, someone to hold accountable, justice can be served. But imagine being the family members of a loved one who was killed by a glitch in an AI and seeing millions of the same AI being tested by average consumers on public roads.
