Sir Roger Penrose would have more credibility in his assertions if he was by any chance able to explain conciousness in the first place. With utmost respect, the only thing he's been able to explain on the subject so far is a sort of discrete quantum mambo jambo. In fact, we need to realize that his conviction about AI not being able to generate intelligence is strictly based on the fact that he has not been able to explain conciousness, attibuting magical properties to the quantum processes happenning inside the brain components and therefore concluding this magical process couldn't happen in any other substrate
