Why do people always assume consciousness is some mystical concept that exists inside of us.
It's actually something we decide what it is. There's nothing that suggests our minds are anything but a result of our bodies (predominately the wrinkled thinky fat inside our skulls).
If an ai emulates pain, is that not pain?
I'll assume ai is conscious when it tells me it is and it's plausible it is.
The danger they pose is still relevant. It doesn't require what anyone would call consciousness though. It just needs to be clever and have capabilities.
We might be annihilated by chat bots.
