I was fired of my job too a while ago. I am a software engineer, the company started experimenting with AI to 'improve efficiency', result was that roughly 30% of the employees were fired after a year and half.
Some people said that new jobs are being created, but those jobs themselves are being phased out by new ai models replacing those jobs. Remember, when electricity came new jobs where created because new needs were found in the society (tv, phones, house wiring, etc).... the ai doesn't create new needs, it creates a new source to satisfy them that don't require human intervention (or barely any).
I am a late millenial by the way, we are in the same boat more or less, i am in my middle thirties.
