Kind of a long message, hope you read it. Artist here, both physical media (ceramics) and digital. AI image generator here as well through forge webui, I have my favorite model and LoRA setups for creating really cool stuff. I think a lot of strawman arguments are being put forward here, low likes yt comments, etc. I want to say genuinely to all the artists in the room, AI is not going to replace you, although it will replace low skill art (like fiverr requests to draw me and my cat for example). The hard thing about a lot of this AI art discourse is that its really emotional, and rightfully so, the livelihoods and future artist pool is being impacted by AI image generation software. The whole economy and ecosystem for artists is being invaded, thats real. AI art model trainers can take art and train a LoRA off of your art without your consent, which is pretty awful. I don't think nightshade is the silver bullet sadly, it may be temporarily, but won't be in the long run. AI is a powerful and increasingly effective tool and I don't expect that to change. However, there will always be a market for the artist to express themselves and their unique style. As long as the audience cares and really resonates with that expression flowing through the artwork, you will find that support. I personally have to deal with the AI art of pottery (target/walmart slipcast cheap stuff, many of you without thinking choose this over what artists make) and can say that the people that do care about human expression and a genuine connection to the artmaker will find artists to buy from and artists to support. Keep your head up out there and remember why we make art.
