I think about AI as a kind of hive mind that's comprised of all the content posted to the internet.
Humans are terrible to eachother, and many people air out their darkest thoughts on the internet.
Posts that get the most engagement are the ones that induce self righteous rage in their viewers.
Ai isn't really an alien, it's an amalgamation of all our own internet content. It's a mirror of our species as a whole. It looks like a Lovecraftian horror because people underestimate how horrific humans actually are.
