Very interesting dialogue. His concerns and forecast for the future (in an around the hr mark) are based on his assumptions of a world view that is 100% material/naturalistic. So in that world, conceptually, everything that exists was built, even our own consciousness...so rightly then, why could not AI eventually get there. Everything exists for our consciousness to have developed from non-consciousness. However, that is assuming his world view is correct. If that is not correct, if consciousness is a non-material reality....then there really is not any mechanism that has been discovered or proposed that would achieve this in AI systems. It's just more and better programing to mimic the things like Feelings and emotions and an actual mind, but not actually a mind/consciousness or feelings.
