“Universal basic income” is just a fancy way of saying everyone will be on welfare. People said the same things about the printing press, the automobile, etc. that they would disrupt society to the extent everyone becomes unemployed but guess what? Technology has helped us grow economically and AI won’t be any different. It will reduce manufacturing costs so our food and goods are cheaper. Robots will help us clean homes and do laundry freeing up more time for us. It’s overall going to be very positive for humanity. People are overestimating it. It’s not going to cure cancer. AI can not have original ideas. It just regurgitates information. The real issue is going to be the humans who form sexual relationships with AI and want to be married to robots and all that nonsense.
