Once again, people are losing their minds about the consequences of a new technology.
Technological growth is one of the biggest drivers of wealth. To allow regulators who know nothing on the subject to regulate AI in each state uniquely would all but guarantee a monopoly as large businesses like Google, Meta, and OpenAI can afford to hire lawyers to navigate the regulatory environment. Small startups would choke, with very few ever able to launch and be profitable.
There are already awesome usecases of using AI for screening various medical conditions and doing complex data analysis. Being worried about AI automating tasks is like being worried about the spinning Jenny displacing clothiers.
