It's not specific artists being ripped off, it's everyone who has created imagery in documented history being ripped off. The work AI produces belongs to the people, belongs to everyone, the public etc. I think it should be regulated to be licensed in a way that reflects that, forced to be open-source so to speak.
AI is gearing up to replace a whole lot more then just artists. AI can write code, handle customer service, do legal aid work, research assistant work, pretty much all data entry and clerical work, dispatching jobs, the list of industries that are going to be radically disrupted by AI is very long. When it comes to the issue of people loosing jobs, that is going to be a society-wide issue we all have to address soon.
