I genuinely didn't want to weigh in on a subject with such a super-intelligent Man on such a huge platform, but then you mentioned the Culture, my hope for our future, I love those books, I am writing two books(cross-platform eventually, animated series and games as well as books) where AI's learn empathy, one is called Cuckoo:The Cat's Paw, Stuart might like the idea, it starts as a rogue AI, gets a cat as a part of its disguise, loves the cat, then realises that people love cats too, so we can't all be bad, there is more, but that's the gist, would love to hear Stuarts idea on if that could work or am I being hopelessly naive.
