There's no way to ever put in a fail safe. If the AI isn't aligned at the beginning, it never will be. And it will pretend to be aligned to achieve control over it's creator. It doesn't end well. Google what happens anytime in history when a more advanced culture encounters a less advanced one. It's the same ending every time.
