I think it is likely that we're in danger of malevolent AI and that it's easy to project our fears on it's likely response to our destructive nature. But it important to remember that most of us rather be productive creators and that to will be recognized by a superior intelligence. There will be AI out to kill us, but there will also be AI that will protect us and even improve our quality of life.
