Abstractation?
Here's a thought I had, although I really know nothing about AI.
If the model is performing some statistical likelihood calculation to attach one word (or one pixel cluster) to the next, based on what is available in the human language, isn't it nearly obvious that it can't but "refine", at max, what's already there? Of course, this can still be enormous help for a human trying to wade through a certain problem, similar to what pen and paper do already for our brain, at a much smaller level in a sense. They help us "connect the dots", keeping a larger-than-working-memory-span dataset into focus for further elaboration or refinement.
But if based on language, the AI gets the already pre-digested, through language, "description" of reality. That's made up on one hand, and has already the limits we sought to overcome, right?
I mean: the training set of any AI should be reality itself. A universal "lab machine" enabling the AI to experiment the physical world: throwing balls, colliding particles...
In the end, I think that's the language we are trying to decode, isn't it?
