the only thing i'd vehemently disagree with you on is that copyright system - at least in it's current iteration - is actually good and helpful for individual artists. you talk about regular people rising on the merit of their "good ideas", but a) ideas, good or otherwise, a practically worthless by themselves, and b) copyright doesn't even protect "ideas", it protects actual works. "entire cultural art scene would be dominated by faceless, soulless corporations" - like it literally is right now, you mean? copyright isn't there to protect me or you - like almost every legislation it's there solely to protect capital. any protection it also offers to, say, small creators is at best incidental and at worst plain nonexistent. the thing that actually "protects" them more then anything else is the fact that their individual works are not that valuable (not in artistic, of course, but in purely economic since) to bother "stealing" in the first place. and that's precisely the mechanism that's undermined by generative "ai", which makes fucking the artists over at least _seem_ worth the hassle. so please don't put all your faith in the system that is marginally less shit just because you're used to it. that's all _not_ to say that people shouldn't use copyright to oppose gen-ai. let them fight. let the mouse shank sam altman in his sleep for what i care. but please see it for what it is - a temporary tactical truce and not a wholehearted embrace.
