it would cost almost nothing to add infrared bulbs to the headlights and an infrared censor to the front facing camera which could be activated when autopilot is turned on at night.. that would allow the AI to process two images simultaneously using the same software (at a lower refresh rate) and would still give the car enough time to stop without hitting the object in front of it, even on a very dark night with the vehicle in front having no lights on at all.
Also if you are a motorcyclist riding at night, you should be wearing highvis reflective gear anyway because tired drivers using low beam are also unlikely to see you with enough time to react.
