I always liked to paint but gave it up around 20 years ago because I compared myself to others and thought that I will never be able to create art. Last year photoshop implemented firefly for free (my main "art" is/was photography so I use photoshop regularly) and I started to play around with it. Trying to turn my visions into pictures. I had a lot of fun. I recognized that I have great ideas but all I lack is technique. I got bored from AI because something was missing and I was not able to create more complex scenarios. It was challenging to get exactly what I wanted. It is easy to create portraits or simple promts but as soon as you want to promt complex ideas and sceneries with certain interactions it gets difficult. Because AI is always a bit random. Guess what happened- I grabed my old art supplies and started to draw and paint again. I could not be happier. And as someone who really digged into that AI stuff I can say that the word "art" for AI is completely misleading. AI can somehow put my ideas into a kind of picture. But each real brushstroke, each color I chose or mix by myself is an extension of myself and my intention. As an artist you transform your view of the world and your visons into a medium that delivers your personal perception of the world to everyone who looks at it. It is more than just an ugly/or pretty picture. And this is what art is about. AI cannot do this in the same way. It can somehow create a shallow picture of what you envisioned but it lacks soul. And in a world that feels more and more soulless the need for real art becomes bigger and real art even feels more precious. Because it allows us to connect to each other or at least feel somehow related to the artist who painted it. AI "art" will never feel us connected or related. People who say "AI is the better artist than artists" just do not understand anything about art- that is at least my opinion.
