The real theft is big data. The models are merely one tool stained by their hands. We would all find them cute and fun if they were strictly built with a democratic mindset, with the only issue left being the fact that artists get cheated out of money... And to the money cheating I say... Artists were getting cheated out of their money and creative process already, by capitalism. Being under pressure to corner markets and be in competition, being threatened to lose your roof and food if you don't get the right dice roll, and being practically forced to shoulder businesses and offer them a platform to advertise. Artists are completely disrespected by the system, because the value they create varies too much in terms of dollars and grabbing attention. And to be honest, the same is true for most jobs. Nobody would hate that they can get their labor done by a machine if we weren't so obsessed with making our basic needs conditional. Or if we had a real choice. That's the issue, it's the fact that choice is taken away from us. I love AI as a concept, as a key to making discoveries and simplifying certain things. I hate that it has so far all been orchestrated by the least ethical non-terroristic organisations. I hate that it ends up benefiting the wealthy. We weren't ready. And now I fear what will happen as a result of the way people perceive AI as evil.
