So ... I want to say using AI art to make a profit as if the art is your own is wrong. Especially if you present it as if it's your own. Here's the issues with your reasoning, and a lot of other artists who talk about this subject. 1: AI is advancing so quickly, pretty soon it will be able to create images so different from its data pulls, they'll be unlikable to the original inspiration, (I'd say it's already closer to this than your video implies?) 2: Why don't people get mad when human artists do this? In music they call it "sampling." Oh I didn't steal that riff, I SAMPLED it. Well ... Why didn't you just hire a guitarist to play it? You blatantly stole audio from a track you don't own and didn't create, why do you think that's okay? Why do people call themselves singers when they use auto tune? Why is stealing art in that way fair use, but stealing art in this way is deserving of a civil war? Because it's an AI? Is it just the principle that you'd rather be robbed by a human than a robot? I genuinely don't understand. When you can condemn the use of AI without tripping over the same reasoning people use to justify theft in other art forms, it might be taken seriously. But as of now, this is giving me flashbacks to when singers said, "Why do they call themselves singers when they use auto tune? Why do people use MIDI programs instead of putting a band together?" And the united answer from the youth was, "It gives the poor artist a fighting chance. It allows people who lack the skill or have an inability to do the skill to still be able to express themselves." And now that I've finally accepted that reasoning for music, I feel like I'm being told to abandon it for AI. I just ... Think you're on the wrong side here, albeit for the best reasons ... But still wrong based on every other instance of sampling. This is AI sampling. I'm sorry. 😞
