There was a primary study done in Detroit in 1980s as automakers wanted to replace auto workers. A robot cost was equivalent to 4 workers first year. After that robots were free, no medical leave, no insurance, no leave, no salary, no strikes, no raise. It looked great in graphs. But one person raised the question: If there are no workers, who will buy cars? Will you sell to robots? Then it was decided robots for high risk jobs, extreme heat and chemicals etc. Now the scenario is different. China, India, Korea can produce dead cheap cars and dump them in the USA. So tariffs may be one solution.
