reads as both incredibly naive and oddly specific . focusing on a large language model because it has statistics based reading comprehension and prediction as if that is "powerful" rather then simply useful for that domain . and misunderstanding the underlying developments that made it possible ( network architecture , dataset curation ) . it seems like they are fantasizing about its capabilities , because can "interact" with it , anthropomorphizing into a scifi general intelligence , where as the same techniques applied to protein folding is considered less "dangerous" . there are many challenges before us that can be better resolved by continuing to develop complex statistical models , to delay fixing those issues because worried about "jobs" is archaic .
