the argument that ai could allow someone without the ability to make art, to make art, is also just nonsensical. if someone was unable to paint on a canvas, but wanted to do so, ai would not be a replacement for that. and to think that it would be a replacement shows that these people dont care about art. because if they did, they would recognise that ai "art" does not replace traditional or digital physically painted (pen/brush/etc) art. but they dont, because they dont care about art, they care about the product, about that final image, not about the meaning and intention and process behind it
