Something important that artists forget (Speaking as someone who DOES do art, and keeps fighting the uphill struggle to be good at it), one of the main reasons people choose AI, is because skilled artists are expensive. Learning to draw with considerable skill takes considerable time and effort and isn't even a 100% guarantee. They're not choosing ai over artists, no creative wants to, it's because it's the only route that's feasible to them within any reasonable amount of time.
saying people should just be happy with their own output is deeply insulting. The reason people go to ai is because they could take YEARS of agonizing failure to produce what they want. creation is not an easy process, and i will never shun someone because they do not have the physical ability to produce the ideas in their head. the vat majority of people don't. I hate my own art and i struggle with making something daily. to get good will take decades for someone talent-less like me. i choose not to because for me the journey is personal, but for others, it might be the only way they could ever create something they like in the first place.
I will preface. i do not like how people use AI. i do not like how ai is made. However, saying it's faceless, soulless, whatever, will never matter. the vast, vast majority of people will not look at art for its emotional value in the first place unless it is ALSO good. people will not look at your art if it's bad. hell, i see a considerable amount of people making fun of people for being bad at art, or doing it "wrong". Part of the reason ai art is so huge, is bad art is so shameful and shunned in public. it's not worth trying because most people will laugh at you for trying in the first place.
Take Adam Sandler, mentioned in the video. he makes art he wants to, and he likes to make it. he likes his career. and yet, i see people treating him like one of the worst people in hollywood just for making something bad.
We created a world where creativity is reviled unless you are at the cream of the crop, and we wonder why people take the shortcuts. Angel engine is a beautiful metaphor for this current brutal state we are in society. A genuine, true, creative who could not create what he wanted to with his own hands, leaning onto a tool to prop up his other skills which were not nearly as lacking. And in the end, powering through the hate, by continuing to attract the people interested in the actual, underlying creation, in the true soul of his creation, he finally had the money to do what he wanted by helping other creatives.
