I am a computer scientist from Istanbul. I studied it in the 90s. Our Articificial Intelligence class was lecured by a proffessional worked in seattle and he returned to Istanbul just because his mother was sick. Normally AI class curriculum was "decision trees"... But this genteleman said in the first class... "Guys forget about everything about AI, there is a new concept and it will take over the world"... It was called artificial neural networks... He lectured Neural networks all semester and it was fascinating... I knew what was to come... And it is here now...
